The Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) has announced that it will reconduct examinations after thousands of answer sheets from its Diploma, Certificate, and Pre-Diploma programs were destroyed in the recent Gen Z movement.
According to CTEVT spokesperson Tailendra Acharya, the re-examinations are scheduled to begin from Mangsir 4, ensuring that no student faces academic loss due to the unfortunate incident.
During the unrest, a total of 14,700 answer sheets were burned while being stored at police offices for safekeeping. The fire completely destroyed many answer papers, while several others were partially damaged.
The CTEVT Examination Control Office confirmed that five exam centers in Koshi Province and eighteen centers in Bagmati Province were affected.
Koshi Province: 3,587 answer sheets destroyed
1,937 Regular
1,650 Partial
Bagmati Province: 11,203 answer sheets destroyed across 18 centers
Total: 14,790 answer sheets burned
Some answer sheets were completely destroyed, while others suffered partial damage, making re-examinations the only fair solution for affected students.
Along with CTEVT, Tribhuvan University (TU) also reported the loss of 652 students’ answer sheets due to the same event. However, the largest academic impact was seen in CTEVT, where thousands of technical and vocational students were affected across multiple provinces.
The CTEVT Examination Control Office, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, has officially announced that re-examinations will be held from Mangsir 4 for all affected students.
Officials also stated that some students lost multiple answer sheets, and necessary arrangements are being made to ensure transparency, fairness, and proper evaluation through the upcoming re-examination schedule.
